This centuries-old celebration transforms the coastal towns of Praia da Luz and Lagos into a magical spectacle of folklore, music, and midnight revelry.
Portuguese folklore tells us that taking a midnight swim on August 29th wards off evil spirits and is worth twenty-nine regular baths. The festivities begin early and build to an incredible midnight crescendo:
Morning Heritage (11:00 AM)
Start your day at Avenida dos Descobrimentos and Praia da Batata with a historical recreation of the Banho 29 tradition by the Lagos Study Center, bringing the past to vivid life.
Afternoon Energy (6:00 PM onwards)

While the full program for Praia da Luz is still being finalized, it’s certain to have its own spectacular celebration with customary three different stages offering diverse entertainment throughout the evening. It always has live music, plenty of eat and drinks, fireworks and of course the midnight swim! ;D
