The Banho 29 Celebration is a beloved traditional festival that takes place annually on August 29th in the Algarve towns of Praia da Luz and Lagos. This centuries-old celebration has its roots in ancient summer solstice rituals, as well as influences from the region’s Moorish heritage.

The celebration is jointly organized by the Lagos City Council, the Algarve Commerce and Services Association (ACRAL), and the Luzense Recreational, Cultural and Sports Club. The event is free and open to the public, taking place across multiple venues in both Praia da Luz and Lagos. With its blend of time-honored traditions and contemporary revelry, the Banho 29 Celebration is a highlight of the Algarve’s cultural calendar.
